The Queen v AKHTAR DOGAR, ANJUM DOGAR, KAMAR JAMIL, MOHAMMED KARRAR, BASSAM KARRAR.
Operation Bullfinch drew to a close this week seeing life sentences imposed by His Honour Judge Peter Rook QC at The Old Bailey. This operation revealed some of the worse grooming and sexual depravity on young girls ever seen. One of the rapes of which three were convicted relates to a young girl subjected to rape at Shotover Woods (Count 10).
The victim pretended she had a period to avoid sex. Akhtar, reacted by putting his hand down her trousers so as to check whether this was true. Akhtar, Anjum and Kamar Jamil then embarked upon a wicked plan to punish her for lying. At night she was taken to a remote car park up a hill near Shotover Woods. It was pitch black. They ignored her pleading. They made her get down to her knees and forced her to give each of them oral sex.
She was verbally abused with them telling her that she knew what they do to pigs, and they were going to cut her throat if she did not comply. It is a clear inference that they had also invited others to join the gang. Another car arrived within 10 to 15 minutes. There were four men in that car. The victim was made to give oral sex to all four. The victim said they were all encouraging each other. The grooming and sexual depravity involved very young girls (11 years of age) and involved every variation of sexual abuse imaginable. His Honour Judge Rook QC imposed life sentences with a minimum term of 20 years.
Do you feel this is manifestly excessive? How would you have sentenced such sex gangs? Whatever the sentence this gang aren’t the first and won’t be the last. Others must have known that this abuse was happening so how could it have occurred for such a long period and involved so many defendants and victims? Perhaps it’s a wake up call for us all to be more vigilant.
