Appeals and Review
Appeals and reviewing evidence are often forgotten or viewed as too much hard work. We believe however with hard work and scrupulous examination of evidence, procedure and perhaps fresh evidence, appeals are fascinating and rewarding.
We have advised on a number of high profile cases for appellants in nationally profiled cases and seen great results. Our criminal appeal solicitors have reviewed evidence, challenged expert evidence and advanced fresh evidence. Most notably we have successfully appealed a murder conviction and at the retrial the defendant was acquitted of all matters.
We have advised on cell site analysis, pathology evidence and contamination of evidence in order to review evidence which ‘supported’ a murder and manslaughter conviction. At Chiltern Law our criminal appeal lawyers are happy to review cases in order to give a preliminary advice on appeal against conviction and/or sentence to see how we can help and launch an appeal. These cases are time consuming and often lead to us instructing our own experts.
